Scars and Stretch Marks

Scar Improvement

Acne, surgical and burn scars can be treated with a variety of laser technologies. The Artisan LUX 1540TM laser uses fractional laser light to target micro-columns of tissue deep into the dermis. This triggers a wound-healing process that replaces the disorganized scar tissue with healthy new tissue, reducing the appearance of the scar. The V-Star Pulsed-Dye laser works to flatten scars and decrease redness in raised scars.

Acne scars are a common concern for people of all ages who suffered from acne and are now unhappy with the scars left behind. Many of our Skin Rejuvenation lasers are effective for reducing the appearance of acne scars. The choice of laser treatment depends greatly on the severity and type of scars. Dr. Grossman will evaluate your scars and develop a personalized treatment for optimum results.

Stretch Marks

Medically known as striae, stretch marks are essentially blemish lines that occur on the skin’s surface after the skin has been stretched from weight gain, pregnancy or hormonal conditions.

Newer stretch marks are red in color and respond well to the V-Star Pulsed-Dye laser. The energy targets the red pigment and gently disperses it, causing the stretch marks to fade. Most patients require two to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart.

Older stretch marks, typically white in color, are more challenging to treat. The Artisan LUX 1540TM laser is one of the only lasers FDA-cleared for removal of stretch marks. After a series of treatments, patients can see significant improvement in appearance and texture.
